Exceeding Expectations For Manchester Eatery

Work has now been completed on a project for prestigious Manchester-based restaurant, Grafene. The eatery, named after the world’s first 2D material – isolated at Manchester University – is an ultra-modern, 190-cover establishment in the heart of the city centre.

Our sister company, Euro Catering, joined forces with HK Projects to deliver an effective single-suite, professional island solution to this esteemed client.

A Single-Suite Solution

Originally proposing a ready-to-install fabricated island with drop-in components, HK Projects contacted Euro Catering after learning of an extended lead time they deemed to be unsuitable for the client. Our sister company came up with the goods, suggesting a ready-to-install Palux single-suite solution with a unique connecting system to complement Grafene’s existing equipment. The rest, as they say, is history.

Ergonomically designed, and complete with a stylish plancha and zone-control induction hobs, this easy-to-clean, heavy-duty single island suite is now helping Grafene to serve everything from brunches to 7-course tasting experiences, as well as delivering energy and process efficiencies, to tick all the boxes of the initial brief.

Further Enhancements

On top of this, Euro Catering also supplied a state-of-the-art Giorik electric salamander grill able to reach 200°C in 20 seconds. Not only did this exceed the client’s technical specifications, it also matched the build and vision of the Palux modular system. This high-quality switch-on-and-use grill, when used alongside induction hobs, reduces heat generated in the kitchen for a positive impact on service. It also has the advantage of lowering energy bills considerably.

Now in-situ at the Manchester restaurant, this grill is used by Grafene’s chefs for both contact cooking and pan cooking. Its ‘Twingo’ configuration maximises the space available, with dual-sided controls driving operational efficiency and making food service much swifter than before.

Brief Fulfilled

With HK Projects and Euro Catering working together seamlessly, it seems that future collaborations might be on the cards. HK Projects’ Amy Lomas stated: “Euro Catering’s support was exemplary and its team showed that they share our values when it comes to exceeding expectations.  We are now engaging with Palux and Euro Catering on further prestigious design projects.”

Euro Catering’s Sales Director, Justin Towns, added: “This project allowed us to demonstrate our ability to fulfill any brief and supply to any realistic budget.  It is a great example of how we can partner with another business and add value.  We hope to work with many more similarly minded kitchen designers and catering equipment specifiers, on equally successful projects.”
